Vikas Sahyog Pratishthan (means Development Collaboration Foundation) is a voluntary organization working on livelihood and dignity issue of deprived communities especially dalits, nomadic tribes, destitute women and other resource less poor in rural areas of Maharashtra since 1990. This organization is constituted by 27 grassroots voluntary organizations working in various parts of Maharashtra.

Interventions in Maharashtra in a Network Mode
·         Demonstrating and educating farmers on nature farming as a sustainable livelihood.
·         Promoting self-help groups and cooperatives for credit access and organizing entrepreneurial activities.
·         Educating women and youth for their participation and transparency in local Panchayat raj.
·         Undertaking awareness campaign on the issues related to human rights and asserting rights over livelihood resources such as land, water, forest and its conservation
·         Inculcate democratic values and skills within student and non-student youth for their development.
·         Relief and rehabilitation in the crisis of natural disaster such as recent floods in Konkan, or manmade crisis such as atrocities on deprived communities.
·         Capacity building of grassroots community leaders and organizations.

VSP’s Vision & Mission Statement
Vision of Vikas Sahyog Pratishthan is “a society based on equality, social justice and harmony with nature.”The mission of this collective is “to facilitate a process of social change with associated
 voluntary development organizations to create just and human societies that is sensitive to nature
and gender”.

Organizations Governance and Leadership

VSP is a value based collective upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, participatory working and decentralized decision-making. VSP offers organizational and individual membership and through the invitation. As per the constitution members from the General Body that provides strategic direction and focus for the work. General Body elects Executive Body for its undertaking executive role. Executive body members are active in field process.  Currently there are 2 female and 5 male are the members of Executive body. They play conscious role in program management and also the governance process of the organization. We have an advisory board of the four persons. This Advisory board is also closely connected with the ongoing work of the organization. 

Professional strength
VSP has appointed 13 full time professional that has strong experience of managing projects in a networking mode at a regional as well as a State level and 2 part time staff that represents 9 male and 6 female in the core staff team. There are 28 volunteers are associated in the field. And they also represent 20 male and 8 females.  Being this is a network organization we have experts available from the member organizations as consultants/ Resource persons. The organization has adequate capacities in terms of maintaining activity record, financial records. The systems are monitored at the level of management and governance. Over the years VSP has evolved basic transparent program and financial management systems.



Working on sustainable livelihood and dignity
Since the inception of the organization VSP has been working and focusing its activities in a networking mode. The policy related matters were addressed through advocacy and alliances similarly the constructive experiments related to Nature Farming, Water Conservation, developing cooperatives, promoting role of women and youth in village governance, educating communities on rights over natural resources etc.

VSP has ongoing projects through direct and network modes in the fields are:
1. Protecting Natural Resources
Nature Farming method allows nature to be rich and bountiful, using its own resources and community to manage it satisfactorily. The ethical principle guiding is 'not to harm the earth.' The farming method involves no tillage, no chemical fertilizer, no chemical pesticides, no weeding, no pruning, and remarkably little labor. It uses organic matter only when doing so enhances the vitality of the soil and facilitates its inherent power. Our efforts were based on the principles of ecologically sustainable, socially acceptable & economically viable practices. Nature faming endorses sustainable livelihood of deprived communities.

2. Facilitating Learning Enhancement of Migrant Children
Vikas Sahyog Pratishthan is facilitating Education of the children of seasonal migrants and the children having educational deficit in four districts. VSP conduct Learning Enhancement Centre’s for the children from migrant and poor families. These centres are conducted in drought and migration prone 100 villages of Buldhana, Prabhani, Bhandara and Sholapur in collaboration with local voluntary organizations. Through Learning Centres we coach them in regular studies. So they come out of educational deficiency and to continue their education.

Program is also campaigning on community mobilization on “Right to Education”Act, on following overviews.
·         Free and compulsory education for the ages of 6 to 14 years child.
·         Government school will be managed by School Management Committee through local people participations.
·         Government & local people collaboration in quality education.
·         Migrant families’ children will study more

2. Effort for Empowering Women
VSP, focusing on the sex selection issue in 2 districts, 4 Block and 40 villages, with covering 5000 population and mobilizing communities for work collectivity to address and stop sex selection. Understand the law of PCPNDT, social perspective of society and traditional practices in the village on sex selection, and its impact on women right. Interventions help us to work with government officers, PCPNDT committee members, collaboration with local NGO’s take district level events to highlight the issue.

3. Grounding Rights of Nomad Communities
The De-notified, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities of India together form perhaps the most marginalized neglected and deprived section of Indian society today. VSP Facilitating Notified and De-notified tribes to access their fundamental rights for Livelihood and dignity. The program is focusing on communities for asserting their fundamental rights and entitlements to develop their livelihood of indigenous people (NT/DNT) communities in Maharashtra. We facilitated them through the capacity building, advocacy initiatives, liasoning with the government and policy makers will be focused task of the project. After one year completion the 1000 families will be benefited for entitlements of voting cards, ration cards, caste certificate and job cards.

4. Engaging Youth in value base Learning and Governance
VSP facilitate Anubhav Shiksha Kendra in 4 districts of Konkan& Western Maharashtra Region i. e Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad & Thane. Based on the processes evolved at state level and the project document VSP has keep focus on enhance reach out and provide opportunity to the youths to express themselves as a individual as well as Vikas Anubhav Group. 8412 youth are associated with the Vikas Anubhav process (Platform to understand Social justice, gender justice, democracy and secularism, honesty & integrity and environmental sustainability among youth).  

5. Responding Natural Calamities and Disaster
VSP Works in 2 regions Vidarbha and Konkan. In Vidarbha district 5 Villages are adopted for repair of well, hand pump, Water storage, Poddar plots for animal foods. We pressurized Government to distribute drought area packages through Network organization in Jalgaon Jamud and Sangrampur. 41 families were provided Shelters to nomadic tribes affected by flood in Sindhudurg, 250 families affected by flood in form of grain, hygiene, shelter and bedding in Sindhudurg and Manmade crisis such as atrocities on deprived communities.

27 Grassroots Voluntary Organization. They are member organization, has organizational as well as individual membership.  The membership is by invitation.
